Querido Padre Manuel,

Y nuestra Iglesia deberia tener

On behalf of all the parishioners of Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Glendale, Arizona, we are praying for Bishop Moreno, that he may find renewed hope in his suffering and health in time. We trust that God will look upon him kindly, and shower him with love so that his pain may be lessened.

We are also praying for his family, may they have the strenght to continue supporting in this moment of pain, so that their strenght may be the force that supports Bishop Moreno in this difficult time.

I personally pray for him, the kind, gentle and loving man i have know for so many years.

I heard a saying that goes something like this:

"When you were born you cried and your family rejoiced. Live your life so that when you die, your family will cry and you will rejoice."

My friend, you have lived your life in a way that you have reason to rejoice. And even though we cry we are rejoicing with you.
Thank you. Love, Janie Brown.

In Gratitude to Bishop Moreno, who was always an example of kindness, gentleness and love for others. Throughout the years, he helped many of us to discern out vocation to the priesthood, and not only his words, but example is what led many of us to respond to the call.

When he worked with Encuentros en Los Angeles, he guided many of us to follow the Lord, and its due to his example and good work, his leadership and good shepherd abilities that many of us are priests today.

I thank you Bishop Moreno for the love and care you shared with many of us, for having reached out to us and lifted us up when we needed your support and guidance, when you showed us that in following Christ, we must pick up our cross and follow, with suffering, pain, humility and joy.

Thank you Don Manuel for having been a father to many of us, and for having been there for me, for me to teach me to be the best priest that i can be.

I will always remember your good advise and will keep in mind your gentle smile.

Enjoy everlasting life with God the Father, and pray for us that we can be half as good a priest as you always were.

with much love

To my +Bishop Friend Manuel Moreno,
Who but you did remind me to pray first in God's Service, Who but you walked the pilgrimage of our Lady of Guadalupe from Safford to Solomon in your "boots" to celebrate with her people, Who but you opened your home to celebrate my PhD graduation as a sign of support, Who but you would smile and ask how I was doing? Who but you kept contact and became a "dear friend" after I served with you in the diocese, and who but you said at our last meeting seveeral months ago, that I was living in an earthly paradise and to remember the heavenly one where we will all meet again. You shared torillas, waffles, wine and a baseball game with me... but most of all you shared your sincere concern. I know your family and many friends will miss you dearly...I do so much. But I know you will watch over us and help us as you promised. With all Christ's Love, Carolyn Lopez, PhD friend and co-worker in the vineyards de Hawaii

Hello to whom it may concern:

I want to sincerly share my thoughts and prayers for the Most Rev. Bishop Moreno. I was a seminarian when Bishop Moreno came to visit me in 1978 at Queen of Angeles Seminary in San Fernando, California. He made me who I AM.....a man of GOD and I am crying to hear of his passing. Bishop Moreno once heard my confession, he gave me the best advice in the world. Without him I was nothing. I want to express to the world what Bishop Moreno has meant to me. I am 43 yrs old and still remember the words he shared with me as a young seminarian. He was an inspriation as to how to live a life devotion. His words gave me a chance to live, and for that I will love him forever.

May your light shine upon us and continue to bless us all the days of our lives on earth until we walk with you and our Father in Heaven. Peace be with you my shepard, my friend.

Dear Family and Brothers and Sisters of Bishop Manny in Ministry

Our family has been truly blessed to know Father Manuel-first and foremost a good and holy priest. His genuine humility was a welcome contrast to the hubris that saturates our society.
His photo sits on the wall of Fullerton High School's Distinguished Alumni Wall.It also should be placed in every seminary and House of Formation to serve as a reminder of what authentic ministry is all about.

Dear family and friends of Bishop Moreno - ("Manny" as he always asked us to call him),
My husband George and I were blessed to meet Manny through the Cursillo in Los Angeles in 1973. He has been a good friend and source of comfort and inspiration to us ever since. He reached across the country to comfort us when my husband was terminally ill, and continued to stay in touch with me after George's death dispite his very busy schedule.
Please accept my sincere sympathy at the loss of your dearest one.

Bishop Moreno’s death will be a loss to many. I only met him once and for only a very short time but I could see God’s love. This man had a troubled episcopate, but still was in love with God. This man was not embittered by a rough life. This is how I will remember the man.

Remember thy servant, O Lord, according to the favour which thou bearest unto thy people, and grant that, increasing in knowledge and love of thee, he may go from strength to strength, in the life of perfect service, in thy heavenly kingdom; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who liveth and reigneth with thee and the Holy Ghost, ever, one God, world without end.

Yours in Christ

Bishop Moreno will be missed, but his example of humility, gentility, simplicity, and compassionate love in service to others will live on, as we know he will remain in our thoughts and prayers. He looks down from heaven and is still united with us in the Communion of Saints, whereby we are all connected in life and after death, so long as we sought to be faithful in this life.
